DND-CAT
Publications
All publications
are to be in the format required by the APS. Please access
this page at the APS
to connect to the APS Publications Database and submit all
publication information there.
It is essential
that we maintain an up-to-date catalog of our scientific and technical
output for
a variety of reasons:
- First and foremost
(at least as far as our standing within the APS community is concerned), we
are reviewed every three years by the APS Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC). This body meets
every January and hears presentations from recently reviewed sectors. Their evaluation is
then forwarded to the Director of the APS. One bad review puts the CAT on
probation. It can lose its tenure if the situation does not improve.
- In order to
raise operating funds for DND, we periodically write proposals, progress reviews,
and are asked to make presentations to various funding agencies. We need to
have a record of the CAT's scientific output to draw upon, rather than madly
trying to collect information every time it is required. Also, as the volume
of research increases, we will need to be able to extract statistical information
about our scientific program (number of scientists in a field, collaborative
research etc.). For this, fairly comprehensive documentation is obviously
required.
- Last, but certainly
not least, communicating our results to our DND members (as
well as to the rest of the world, of course) has important benefits, both
for the communicator and for the audience. After all, our CAT was formed because
of the common research interests of its members. Creating a repository of
CAT publications, which is easily accessible to all, is a very effective way
to promote such communication.
Please do your best to be up to date by November 1 of each year.
