Windowless High Throughput

• 5ID-D has a large (12” 6-way cross) vacuum chamber equipped with wheel-based sample changer. The chamber provides a windowless path starting downstream of the incident beam intensity monitor, through 3 sets of collimating slits, and ending just before the detector. With this setup we have acheived background noise levels < 10 cps above the detector noise of our MarCCD detector (a 16 bit, 162 mm CCD detector from MarUSA).

• 52 and 86 hole wheels are available for sample mounting. The sample changer can thus provide a throughput of hundreds of static samples a day.
